Memorial Day 2023

Memorial Day

Hey team. All right, so here we are. It is Memorial Day. Most of us see Memorial Day as a day that we get time off. We think of it as an extra day for family. It’s the kickoff to the summer – hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad. It’s hanging out at the pool for the first time maybe as summer is beginning.

But Memorial Day for some of us is a solemn day. It’s remembering that somebody in our family paid the actual permanent price for our freedom. Most of us know somebody. Most of us know a family member or we have friends who have family members who have paid that ultimate cost, including police officers who have stood in the line of duty and paid the ultimate price for the safety of our community.

And so today, I know that you’re going to have a hot dog. I know that you’re going to have maybe a barbecue. You might be sitting poolside. Take a minute today and think about those who are sitting around, and there’s an empty chair somewhere at their table. Remember that your freedom and your enjoyment of this party and this time with family, this day off that you might have, is because somebody else stood in the gap for that freedom.

And if you’re working here at Northwest Enforcement, first thank you. Yes, you’re getting time and a half, but you too, we appreciate you standing in the gap today and letting us continue to be valuable because nothing less will do to our community that we serve. So thank you guys and have a wonderful Memorial Day. God bless you, and I’ll see you next week.
