Be Dependable
Hey team. All right, so here we are again. What a beautiful day. What a beautiful summer it’s been. Now, I got another quote for you from Zig Ziggler. Zig Ziggler said, “Ability is important in your pursuit of success, but dependability is critical.”
In your pursuit of success in your life, what you’re able to do and having the ability to do is important. But it is about the dependability on you that will determine your true success long term. I’ve had plenty of people that had ability come and work with us at Northwest Enforcement. Same thing in the Marine Corps when I worked and served in the Marines. I’ve seen many able-bodied people, but dependable people, that’s another thing.
It is the dependability, and that’s one of the reasons that we have a core value of resolve. Never quit. Being dependable. Having the resolve to continue to push through. The transparency to admit your weaknesses and to admit when you’re wrong and you’ve made a mistake. These are important values. Having the humility to be able to be honest, look at that, and step into a situation, walk a mile in another person’s shoes, having empathy, these are all values that we strive to achieve. Having that on-it mentality, these are all things that we look for.
That’s how you get to that core purpose that we have at Northwest Enforcement: to be valuable because nothing less will do. That is how we get there. It is by being dependable and focusing on those things. Again, your abilities, we love and we look for people that have talent, but having an ego will kill your talent every day of the week. Having a lazy attitude, not being dependable when the chips are down, just shows that you’re not going to rise to the success that you could achieve, mostly because people will no longer count on you because they can’t depend on you. That is something for us all to be thinking about, working on, and working toward.
I hope on this beautiful day, in this beautiful summer, that you take these words and mull them over in your head as the week goes on. Say to yourself, “Am I dependable in every area of my life?” If you’re not, then you can make a checklist of things to start working on, a place where you can start creating habits to become more dependable. Again, your abilities are awesome, but your dependability matters.
On this beautiful summer day, God bless you, and remember, let’s be valuable because nothing less will do. I’ll see you guys next week. All right, bye. See you.
