Commitment and Opinion

Commitment

Hey Team. All right, so we’re in summer. I hope you’re enjoying your summer. I’m sitting here on my back deck, and you can kind of see behind me some of the stuff I’ve been doing this summer. You see my big saw back there. I just chopped up a bunch of wood, cut up some boards from the deck that we pulled up a couple of years ago, finished getting all that cut up. Still got to get it all stacked. Let’s hope that JT wants to do it because my back is, I’m telling you, it’s been some work. Been doing a lot of sweating, cleaning the garage, doing some home projects, and different things like that.

You see the little target behind me? Some of you probably are going to see that here and just, well, actually, by the time this airs, you guys already got to see it because we brought it to the barbecues. We’re going to have some ax and star throwing. My boys have been practicing, so they’re going to probably beat you. They probably did beat you, but that’s only because they’ve been doing a lot of practicing, throwing axes and throwing stars at the target behind me. They’re preparing for the zombie apocalypse, so here we go.

All right, so today’s quote, guys. Today’s quote is, “One person with a commitment accomplishes more than a thousand with an opinion.” Orrin Woodward.

“One person with a commitment accomplishes more than a thousand with an opinion.”

So let’s break that down for a second. One person with a commitment accomplishes more than a thousand with an opinion. I don’t know about you, but I’m getting a lot older, and I’ve heard a lot of opinions. I’ve heard a lot of people that want to stand around and sit around and talk about what should be done and having different ideas. There’s nothing wrong with having ideas; I’ve got a lot of them. But do you have the commitment to getting the work done, to doing things? Do you have the resolve and the investment to make it happen? Do you put your service to others above yourself?

These are our core values. It’s what we live by. Your commitment will get a lot more done. Your actual production of doing stuff and getting work done will accomplish more than sitting around and having an opinion about what’s not getting done. Have you ever been in a room like that where you’ve sat and listened to other people talk about what’s not getting done instead of going out and doing it? Being that person who goes out and makes it happen reminds me of a story, but I’m not going to go there today. Talk about it in leadership class though, too, don’t I?

It’s about service, it’s about working, it’s about doing. It’s about putting a commitment forward to making it happen. You will always get and go further.

It’s taking that first step.

The guy that wants to do something never gets anything done, but the guy that goes and does something always gets something done. Does he make mistakes? Absolutely. Does he fall on his face? Probably. I’ve been that guy. Still am that guy. Many of you probably are too. We’ve all experienced failure and loss and different things, but it doesn’t dissuade us from our commitment to succeed and continue trying. That is the beauty of what we have in life, to continue to be committed and work hard with others and to accomplish great things.

So on this beautiful day, in this beautiful month, in this beautiful summer at Northwest Enforcement, I just want to say God bless you. Remember, be valuable because nothing less will do. Let’s continue with our commitment because we will always get more done than just sitting around and having an opinion about what’s not getting done.

All right, I’ll see you guys next week. Talk to you later.
