Consistency
Hey Team! All right, so here we are again, another beautiful day. I’m wearing orange, so Sonja is gonna love this video, mostly because I’m wearing orange, not because of Texas, although it is football season coming up here, so we’re in football season and that’s awesome too. For those of you that love football, I don’t watch a lot of football, so don’t let the shirt fool you. It just goes really good with the beard and with the beautiful bald head—that’s why I wear it. But it is orange, so Sonja, this is for you!
Consistency is what transforms average into excellence. Tony Robbins said that. Consistency—being consistent. While I was on vacation this summer, I got to watch my boys. We took them to a skate park in Riverton, Wyoming. We have skate parks and stuff here, but we don’t tend to go to them very often. My boys took their scooters, and it was their first time ever using a scooter on hills and stuff like that. It was a little scary, so they started out with the little ones, and they kept graduating, getting faster, and being more daring.
It’s the consistency of that continued effort and focus—testing the waters and moving out there. It is interesting and fun to watch as a dad, to see your boys and watch them fall. David fell pretty quickly and even got a little bruise on his head. He skinned up his knee a couple of times and stuff, but he got up, dusted off, and kept moving—not really crying a lot. That is huge movement. That is huge progress, especially for David, for those of you that know him. It’s that consistency that transforms average into excellence.
We just got done watching the Olympics in Paris and seeing what excellence really is. When you think about it, from gymnastics to whatever the sport that you fall in love with, it’s that consistency that transforms the average into excellence. It’s being able to spend five or six hours a day doing something that you love and that you’re working really hard at to be the best in the world at.
We at Northwest Enforcement, that’s one of the things we strive to be—consistent in everything that we do. That’s what produces the excellence that comes out the other side. Do we make mistakes? Sure. Do we evaluate our mistakes? Yes. And do we improve on them to continue getting better? Absolutely. It’s consistency—moving a little bit closer every day, getting a little bit better, making a little bit more progress towards the goal of being better than we were yesterday.
I’m seeing that happen in every department at Northwest Enforcement. I’m seeing it happen in every single area that we have. The most amazing leaders and the most amazing young men and women are doing the job every day with a smile on their face, knowing that they’re making their community a better place. That consistency is what’s going to produce the excellence that gets us to the next step, the next place in our journey together.
I am so grateful, as the Vice President here, to have so many wonderful people like you, linking arm in arm and marching towards that goal of excellence. We’re doing it one day at a time, one step at a time, as we continue to move forward. So thank you, and have a wonderful week. God bless you guys.
As it’s starting to get more crisp out there, make sure you wear a jacket. And as it starts to rain, make sure you have a rain cap. Have a beautiful, beautiful fall. All right, God bless you guys. Remember, let’s be valuable, because nothing less will do. It’s our core purpose: if we’re consistent, we’ll be excellent; if we’re excellent, we’re valuable.
All right, I’ll talk to you guys later. See you next week!
