Keep Clapping for Others
Hey Team! All right, so here we are—another beautiful day, a beautiful week. Fall has set in on us, and here we sit. I wanted to share a quote I read just the other day. It says, “Until it’s my turn, I will keep clapping for others.”
I’ll keep clapping for others until it’s my turn.
This quote got me thinking personally about our core values and humility. In our core value story, we talk about humility and the importance of it. Holding the ladder and the light for somebody else—shining the light on somebody who’s doing a great job instead of always wanting to be in the limelight yourself. Or holding the ladder when they’re climbing and doing well—you hold the ladder and hold them steady so they can continue to climb and continue to rise within the organization. That shows true humility and understanding that someday, it will be your turn.
Every Friday, we have someone being highlighted for something great they did within the company. That kind of value system, where we are clapping our hands and applauding those who are doing well, and not saying to ourselves, “Oh, well, I do that all the time, why haven’t I gotten recognized yet?”—that’s not humility. Clapping for somebody else, enjoying their rise, enjoying their limelight moments, and recognizing that your turn will come—it will show up.
You just need to continue to be valuable because nothing less will do.
Your time, too, to be in the limelight, to get congratulated, to get a wheel spin, to get patted on the back in public or in private—it will happen as long as you remain humble and stay true to our mission and our value system of being valuable because nothing less will do.
So, on this beautiful week, guys, as you continue on, think about it. As you read the Friday message from last week or the one coming up this Friday, clap for them. Give them a thumbs up on Facebook. If you run into them out on the street, if you’re at their work site, pay attention to those things. You should subscribe to our Facebook page because those get published every week. You can go on there and clap your hands; you can give them a little emoji clap and say, “Well done, that is awesome.” Your day, too, is coming. But until then, keep clapping for others.
All right, guys, let’s be valuable because nothing less will do, and I’ll see you next week.
