Winners Never Stop Trying

Winners Never Stop Trying

Hey team. We only have a couple more Mondays left in the year. Two days from now, my boys are excited to wake up, open presents, and spend some time together as a family. Tomorrow night, we’ll attend a Christmas special at our church, which is always fun.

We have a tradition in our family. On Christmas Eve, the boys open one present from their grandparents, Mimi and Poppy, or Grandma and Grandpa. This is something we’ve done for years, going back to when I was a kid. I used to go out to my grandparents’ house to do the same. Traditions like these are meaningful and worth cherishing.

For some of you, it might not feel like Christmas if you’re looking at waves, wind, and the tropics. But for me, this is where I’d love to spend my Christmas! As I get older, the tropical vibe feels more appealing—my bones get cold, and I’m not a big fan of snow.

That said, I’ll be heading up to the mountain in the next few days to go sledding with my boys. Watching them have a blast is worth it because those are the sacrifices we make as parents.

Beyond just wishing you all a Merry Christmas, I want to talk about something important: our core value of resolve. I came across a quote recently that said, “Winners never stop trying.” It’s a powerful reminder as we move into 2025 and celebrate our 25th anniversary.

This past year has been tough—for me personally and for our team. There have been physical challenges, emotional struggles, and moments when things felt overwhelming. But time and time again, I’ve seen resolve. I’ve seen winners refusing to quit.

At our Christmas parties last week, I watched our leaders laugh, grow, and take on responsibilities in ways that inspire me. From cooking food to organizing events, I’ve seen leadership in action. While I didn’t cook my usual tri-tip this year, I did smoke some salmon and baked some tilapia because Windee’s kids love it.

The fact that I didn’t have to take on as much this year shows that leadership is working. I can’t help but feel excited about the leaders we’re growing here at Northwest Enforcement. For those of you who are newer to the team, I hope you’re starting to see that this is a different kind of workplace—one where we treat our team like family and care deeply about each other.

Congratulations to those who won prizes at the Christmas parties! And to everyone else, I hope you enjoyed the food and festivities.

As we head into the holiday season, I want to take a moment to thank everyone working and sacrificing on Christmas Day, just as many of you did on Thanksgiving and will again on New Year’s Day. Your dedication to keeping our community safe, protecting people and assets, and doing a great job is appreciated more than I can say.

Merry Christmas, and God bless you. Remember, winners never stop trying—so keep at it. You’re a winner, and you’re valuable. Show value every day to your family, your community, and everyone you encounter.

Enjoy Christmas, thrive, and remember: nothing less than being valuable will do.

See you next week—or, actually, on Christmas morning, when I’ll share a video. Get excited about it—you’ll see me in full form!
