The Next Best Thing to Being Wise

The Next Best Thing To Being Wise

Hey team. All right, so here we are. I got this quote for you, and we’re in July, and it’s pretty exciting. I wanted to read this to you. It’s from CS Lewis. If you haven’t read The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe in school or watched the movie when it came out or something like that, if you haven’t read anything by CS Lewis, I totally recommend it. He’s got some amazing works out there.

Anyway, the quote is this: “The next best thing to being wise oneself is to live in a circle of those who are.”

Who are you associated with? What kind of people are you around? Are they people who lift you? Are they kind, are they generous, are they smart? Do they care about others? What kind of people are you truly looking to get around you? Because it’s really important.

The things that we do and the people we hang around will either lift us up or drag us down. And so as you’re marching through the rest of your summer, think about who you’re going to the beach with. Who are you hanging around with? What kind of things are they saying? Are they dragging you down? Who’s on your Facebook page? What kind of Instagram and social media type stuff are you paying attention to? Because all of that—all of those people, whether they are close or they are distant—influence your way of thinking.

They either lift you or they drag you down. And so I want you to think about that as you’re going through this morning and as you’re going through this week. Who are you hanging around? Because they’re either lifters or they’re people that are trying to pull you down and keep you from accomplishing something.

Always remember that you want to hang around those kinds of people. So, who do you have in your life? Remember, if you want to be valuable because you know that nothing less will do, then you need to have people in your life who are going to lift you, and they’re going to help inspire you and help you grow.

They’re going to give you wise, sage advice that is going to continue to propagate your growth and your learning, and your expansion of knowledge and information on how to be a better version of yourself for society and your community.

All right, so our team loves you. We love you. We so appreciate you. Keep up the great work, and I’ll see you next week. God bless.
