Leadership is the Ripple of Influence Created by Service
Hey team. All right. So, I got a quote for you that I wrote. It is part of my leadership curriculum that we wrote for this year, and it says, “Leadership is not the echo of authority. It is the ripple of influence created by service.” I wrote that. It is part of our leadership curriculum. I am so excited about our leadership class that we just started last week.
We had a bunch of young men and women. We kicked off, and we started going for it. And it is great to see young men and women wanting to grow and better themselves and recognizing that it is about how we serve each other and how we serve our community and how we do those things. It is not pay. And it is not perks, it is not the other things that we think about.
It is not authority, it is not being in charge. It is about serving those around us. And I love seeing our team grow because of those attributes. When I asked last week, what were the attributes, they started throwing out all kinds of words. It was awesome. And it happens every year. Same kind of stuff.
But the reason I am talking about this today is because it goes back to our core values. Humility. To be a good leader, you have to be humble. You have to be invested, you have to have transparency. You have to have resolve. And the grit to not quit. You have to have those kinds of things; you have to celebrate because you like to eat cake.
You have to want to be valuable because nothing less will do. Those are the things, the values, not to mention a whole bunch of other words that were brought up, like empathy and knowledge. A lot of information came out of a great group of men and women that already have some really good answers. So, I am excited about this class that is coming in.
But leadership is not about authority. It is about that ripple effect that happens through service, how we influence each other, and our community and the people around us, and that is why we are here. So, on this Monday, stick to your core values, be valuable, nothing less will do, and remember it is about service.
So, as you serve your team and those around you, your family, you are growing to be a great leader. God bless you. Have a wonderful week. I will see you guys next week. All right. Bye. See you.
