Have the Courage to Serve
Hey team, so Plato said leadership is not the power to command but the courage to serve. It is not the power to command but the courage to serve. We are doing our leadership classes. As a matter of fact, tomorrow will be another wonderful evening where we have a number. I think it is 11 of our leaders, 11 of you in the leadership class, along with some mentors, and so on and so forth.
Sonja was telling me the other day that this is her ninth class sitting in on. She still loves it. And I find that very humbling. The thing I truly love and what inspires me is not just her words, but that this quote goes back to our core values. You need to have transparency and humility, and resolve to be able to focus on being a great leader comes back to that amazing desire to serve.
If you get into leadership thinking you are going to be the boss and in charge and telling people what to do, you are going to live a very lonely, not very fulfilled, and very grumpy life. You are probably going to have to deal with some ulcers and some other thing,s and maybe an early heart attack because the joy in leadership is about serving and caring for others.
And it is not easy. It is hard work. But the outcome is when you build a team like we are doing, there is so much more to gain because of the courage to serve others and care for them and not just tell people what to do. And that is one of the things I love about our team. It is what I love about everybody that joins the class.
I love reading their homework and getting excited about what they do and seeing a little bit more, getting a glimpse of seeing who they are and what drives them, what passions they have and what gets them excited about being a part of this. And it is a wonderful journey. So, as you go through the rest of this week, have the courage to serve.
Serve your fellow team members. Serve your family., serve your community, serve your world. But serve and do it out of a grateful heart. All right. God bless you guys. Have a wonderful Monday. I will see you guys next week. Remember, be valuable. Nothing else will do.
