Setbacks Help You Launch

Setbacks Help You Launch with Chad Withrow

Well, hey team. All right, so spring’s here, and I wanted to share with you how many of you guys have ever felt set back. Life is hard. Sometimes it hits us hard. It draws moments and seasons in our life where sometimes we feel like we’ve been set back. Sometimes, that’s people doing things to us.

Sometimes that’s physical, sometimes it’s mental or spiritual, emotional setbacks, different things that go on in our lives that feel like a setback, like we haven’t gone anywhere. Well, Michael Jr. has this quote. He’s a comedian. If you’ve been to my leadership class, you’ve seen an episode of Break Time for Michael Jr. and stuff.

He’s a great guy, and he’s got a book out you should read. He’s got a lot of videos you can find on YouTube. Different stuff. He’s a very funny comedian, and he’s a very clean comedian. My boys, JT and David, they love him, too. He’s a really neat guy.

But he has this quote, it says, “Much like a slingshot, the farther you’ve been set back, the farther you’re going to reach.” When you change your tone or mental thought process, a setback is not something that keeps you down, but it’s something that’s getting ready and preparing to launch you to something greater. Sometimes the toughest things in our lives challenge us to grow and to get better and to keep improving and to try harder.

And that is what setting that resolve that I’m not going to quit just because I got knocked down. Just because I feel like I’m set back, I’m not quitting. I’m going to keep advancing. I’m going to do better. It’s that mental shift and that pulling the slingshot back and launching into something much greater, having much farther reach than you’ve ever accomplished before.

I can honestly say that all of my setbacks, all of my inadequacies, all of my mistakes, all of those things have only prepared me to be better. And I have people now today more than ever before, reaching out to me and talking to me and wanting me to be a part of something that they are doing. And I don’t think I would have had that if I hadn’t gone through the time-tested trials of the setbacks, the things that have tried to hold me back.

If I didn’t keep going, if I didn’t quit, if I didn’t have that resolve. I don’t think I’d be where I am today. And so that’s something for us all to think about. Is it a setback, or are you just getting ready to launch to hit much further to go much farther than you could have ever possibly accomplished without those times in your life? So, some of you might now be going, Chad, but you don’t know how hard it is.

You’re right. I don’t know your situation. I’m not currently in your situation, but I’ve had dozens of my own, and I can tell you this. Don’t quit. Keep going. You’re not being set back. You’re ready to launch to hit farther, higher reaches than you’ve ever accomplished before. Have the resolve.

Keep studying, keep learning, keep growing through it. Did you hear what I just said? Grow through it. Even through the setback, even through the trial, even through all the pain and the tough stuff in your life, keep going. You’re going to launch much further than you’ve ever dreamed possible because of it.

God bless you, guys. Have a wonderful week, and remember, let’s Be Valuable. Nothing less will do. All right. I’ll talk to you guys next week.
