Baton

It is rare that a Northwest Enforcement officer needs to use force to prevent injury to themself or an innocent member of the community; however, the safety of the officer, the public and the subject can require immediate resolution. In that event, having the knowledge and training to minimize injury, liability, and risk along with a need to increase public safety it is critical to quickly assess the situation, and, in rare cases, restrain a person until law enforcement can arrive and take over.

Training description: In this class, participants will learn techniques and field skills related to the operational use of a tactical baton. Skills include how to carry and present the baton as well as defensive application procedures. Instructors will discuss communication and interaction methods that should always be employed prior to use of force as well as the appropriate time and place for use of a tactical baton to defend themselves from attack.
