This training teaches officers how to de-escalate complicated situations and resolve conflicts peacefully, even when heated emotions or opinions are involved.
Training description: In this class, participants refer to the book Verbal Judo by George Thompson and Jerry Jenkins as a reference to tactical communication. This sets the stage for discussion about L.E.A.P.S., the three truths of communication, the benefits of the five-step approach, the sources of persuasion and the four criteria for action. The class talks through real-life examples to practice conflict resolution and de-escalation of situations they’ve experienced in the field.
